How did you and your husband meet?
In Ponsonby where a friend subtly set us up and we were obsessed with each other ever since.
When did you know he was the one?
There is no pivotal moment as he is one of the most special humans ever, but it didn’t take long. And to be honest, I didn’t believe in marriage until I met him so that proves how incredible his heart is.
How did he ask you to marry him?
On holiday in Hawaii he privately proposed on the beach during the sunset. He knows me so well and knew I would have wanted it private so drove out west.
What was the biggest source of inspiration while planning your wedding?
Our families and creating moments in every small detail. We chose the venue because it is so Mediterranean looking and since both of us having Croatian heritage it was important we integrated this wherever we could.
What was your most memorable moment from your day?
Apart from seeing Marko as I walked down the Aisle, it was the unbelievable feeling of looking out during the ceremony and seeing all our family and friends together to celebrate us (we had 57 guest fly from overseas).
Did you have an idea in mind of what you wanted your dress to look like?
No but I knew what I didn’t like /what didn’t suit me so I had to go from there. Pinterest was also a saving grace as I didn’t know how to describe things, but Clara knew from my saves.
What was your absolute biggest challenge prior to purchasing your wedding dress?
Finding a dress that felt like ‘me’ as someone who doesn’t wear a lot of dresses.
What would you say to somebody on the fence about purchasing? I
had many trials at bridal stores, and it was discouraging. Therefore, creating my dress with Clara was the perfect option for me as I got to combine aspect of styles that I loved into a one-of-a-kind dress!
Anything else that you want to add about Clara and the process?
She was patient and calm despite a tight deadline and incredibly talented.
